ThinkWell

An Employee Assistance Programme for Staffordshire County Council employees.

Offering counselling for anyone who works for Staffordshire County Council.

ThinkWell is an Employee Assistance Programme providing friendly, confidential access to prevention and early intervention services for Staffordshire County Council employees.

This service can be accessed through self-referral or manager referral with the service user’s permission.

ThinkWell is a service that supports the mental health of the service user. ThinkWell offers several support interventions including counselling.

A trained professional will complete a triage appointment and then up to six sessions of counselling are available. Once the triage appointment has been completed, the service users are allocated the most appropriate source of support for their needs.

How does ThinkWell counselling work?

During your appointment a trained therapist will encourage you to talk about your feelings and emotions. The therapist will listen and support you without judging or criticising. The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and help you find your own solutions to your problems. They won’t give advice or tell you what to do.

You will be provided with a ThinkWell plan. This document is to help support your recovery and is designed to help you reflect, recognise and develop ideas and strategies to manage and maintain your mental health and wellbeing. You will receive a copy of this plan which will continue to support you after your counselling is over.

If you refer yourself to ThinkWell, the ThinkWell team will not tell your manager you are gaining support without their permission.
